Redemption Song 'Sea'

Hope everyone likes this. I painted on it yesterday to display at the Thomatoe Head Resteraunt up on Market Square. Haven't desided if I will display it there or let someone buy it. Whatever the results of this painting, I will be pleased.

Methods:

Double primed this 8x10 with black acrylic. It's painted on pannel so it's easly framed with anything!

Background, first I layed in the dark colors, starting with blue at the top, and faded into red in the middle for the sunset. I painted the highligts in the sky with titanium white to light the sky. Of course I blended all the darks into the lights. This picture is also a study I am doing on light. I paint this through out the day to use natural lights, turning my easel backwards counter clokwise, to magnify the shadows. Any applied light to this painting creates a different image! It's totally different in day then night. (Same as the Scotty Mayfield Barn).

The ocean waves were the funnest part! I really got inspired, listening to Bob Marley. Had to find that tropical music to influence my waves.

The Scotty Mayfield piece is also finished. Took pictures using my tripod, and ended up finding a spot I didn't like. So, I fixed it and now it's nothing less then perfect! Since this painting was complexly painted based on my study of light, there will be different pictures taken through the day to show the difference in the light effect. I also plan on installing a light to the ceiling, spot lighting it. Anyway... pics are comming soon!! Let me know how you like the Ocean pic!! Got to get painting on a new one. xoxo-Shonna
